History of GAPS continued...
Jung’s psychology may be regarded as the basic psychological philosophy, but it is not seen as exclusive. The underlying approach is to encounter and engage with the manifestations of psyche in whatever form they may take, and in a manner suitable to the disposition of the individual. Hopefully this approach will lead people to discover the inner self, to enrich and understand themselves, thus ensuring a more fruitful relationship to their own souls and to the world in which they live.
The GAPS approach is a creative endeavour, addressing the whole person, in body, mind and spirit. Through careful attention to dreams and other products of the unconscious, the person is helped towards their authentic inborn wholeness, which Jung termed Individuation. The latter is seen as the goal of therapy, through which the person discovers the meaning of their individual life. |
